Edwin is a recurring character in the Netflix series, Beef. He is the leader of a church.
Biography[]
At a church, Edwin makes a speech to the audience to pray for God, while singing the religious song. He also plays instruments with other church members to impress the audience, especially Danny Cho who is even emotionally touched by the singing and he cries. Edwin is proud of Danny being connected with his fellow church members, so he convinces Danny to join them. Danny agrees with Edwin, despite the fact that he admits that he used to quit coming to church in the past and he became an atheist.
Later, Edwin marries Veronica, who was in a relationship with Danny before they split up. Veronica gets pregnant by Edwin, and he invites his fellow church members and Danny to a party, celebrating the couple's first and future child. He announces that Danny will be charged as leader of a church, since he will be very busy raising his child with his wife after his child is born.
Outside of Danny's parents' burned down house, Danny spots Edwin being outside of the crime scene. He is suspicious of Edwin, and pursues him to Edwin's house.
Inside of Edwin's garage, Danny searches for clues on the evidence against Edwin, believing that he committed arson to his parents' house. When the door opens, Danny hides somewhere to witness Edwin observing his garage. Out of confusion and anger, Danny ambushes, tackles, and threatens to beat up Edwin, interrogating him to confess that whether or not he did it. Edwin becomes scared, and he admits to pulling pranks on Danny, because he is envious of him. Edwin's wife, Veronica, had a thing for Danny when they were teenagers, which made Edwin resentful and bitter. However, Edwin admits that he was not crazy enough to ignite a fire in the first place. Danny calms down, and he leaves Edwin's house.
Afterwards, the fire investigator reveals to Danny that the faulty wiring caused the fire inside of his parents' home. As Danny built the house, he is responsible for the fire, to which Danny later confesses to his younger brother, even if he pinned the blame on Amy Lau.
